Rising 7th, 8th and 9th Grade Academic Advising
Below you will find information on events, timelines and relevant details for the course selection process. We are making frequent updates to this information, please check back often to view changes!
Rising 7th Grade Information

Important Dates:
- Elementary School visits: December 4th - 18th
- Rocky Run Counselors are visiting elementary schools to present about choosing classes and middle school life.
- Rising 7th Grade Student Orientation
- Wednesday, January 15th - Students will visit Rocky Run on a field trip during the school day to tour the building, meet staff and get a glimpse of middle school life
- Curriculum Information:
- Virtual Curriculum Presentation - Wednesday, 1/8 - 6:00-7:00PM on ZOOM
- Curriculum Night & Electives Fair - Thursday, 1/16 - 6:00-7:30PM @ Rocky Run

Rising 8th Grade Information
Between February 3-7, Counselors will be visiting every US History 7 class to present important course selection information to 7th graders. We will also go over how to correctly enter course selections in SIS.
Students and parents should then review course selections, enter courses in SIS and prepare questions ahead of individual academic advising sessions.
Starting February 10th and though the 21st, counselors and students will start meeting 1:1 to discuss course selections and confirm all courses are entered correctly in SIS.
After February 21st, students should contact their counselor for any course changes:

Important Dates:
- January 8th, Wednesday - Counselors from Chantilly, Centreville and Westfields High Schools will visit Rocky Run 8th graders to present about high school student life and course selection.
